Big Games Night Out is a large-scale gaming and pop culture event held during Melbourne International Games Week, bringing together thousands of attendees each year for a celebration of games, cosplay, and interactive entertainment.
I worked on the event for three consecutive years, managing marketing and social media across multiple editions, including leading the Instagram presence and broader digital promotion strategy.
In the 2024 event, which saw over 7,000 attendees, is where I stepped into the hands-on, marketing focused role. During this time, I managed the Instagram account, driving a +883% follower growth, ran a successful paid awareness campaign, and supported key participation initiatives including compiling 100+ sign-ups for the main-stage cosplay runway.
I also created and managed organic content in collaboration with well-known gaming brands such as Crossy Road, and worked closely with a diverse range of community groups — from LARPers to sea shanty performers — to bring the event’s eclectic programming to life online.
Across multiple years, my role has focused on growing awareness, strengthening community engagement, and translating the energy of the live event into engaging digital content that drives attendance and participation.
